Blueberry Picking

Each year in July something great happens here in Pennsylvania... blueberry picking! It is so fun for me to go pick fresh fruits from nature. I dream about the days when I'll be able to do the same thing with banana or mango trees. It'll happen! Until it does though I will appreciate the blueberries and other fruits available for me here!

There is something special about picking fruits straight off of the tree, bush, etc. It's like a gift from nature, the Earth saying, "Hey I'm providing you with an abundance of this delicious food. Grab some!" And so I do time and time again. It's like creating a special connection with the Earth, connecting with nature.

We are all so disconnected from where our food comes from and what it takes to get it into the grocery stores fast and efficiently. This is especially true for the animal industry. There is such a disconnect between humans and their consumption of animal products. That's why it's always so important to educate yourself on what you're consuming, where your food is coming from, avoiding animal products, and purchasing locally whenever possible!

Can you imagine how different the world would be if we all became educated and passionate about taking care of the earth and each other? Thinking about that gives me visions of an abundance of fruit trees and flourishing gardens in everyones yards and everyone sharing their beautiful foods with each other. Ahhh, how great would that be!?

Supporting Local Farmers

Growing or going to pick your own foods is fun! All that it takes is a bit of time and motivation to do so. Who wouldn't want to go hang outside for a while grabbing fresh berries off the trees on a beautiful summer day? Especially whenever you can pick some to take home and snack on some at the same time! Multitasking at it's finest.

High Carb Vegan Fruit Picking

So anyways, moral of the post... get outside and pick some fruits! Whatever is locally available to you, go for it! It's fun, it's delicious, and it'll save you money! We got about 20 pounds of berries for $25. They're so easy to freeze so that they'll be available all year long! As long as you don't finish them off by January like I always do. Whoops. But still, having local berries for that long is much better than having overpriced berries from the store. Focusing on the positives!

Get out there soon and pick yourself some fruit! Tell me all about your favorite fruits pick each season!
